About Me

Pastor Johan Knies and his family immigrated to the United States from Holland in 1961.  After accepting Christ as his personal savior while attending a Billy Graham Crusade in Portland, Oregon, he committed his life to full-time Christian service.

Johan graduated from Multnomah Bible College and has served as pastor mostly in non-denominational churches in Oregon, California, Alaska, Maine, Arizona, and now Colorado.  He has a passion to bring God's Word to life and make it applicable for daily living.  Johan's heart for people and desire to see them grow in their faith is very much that of a shepherd.

He and his wife, Katie, have come to love the community of Grand Lake and feel very much a part of it.  They have two grown daughters and sons-in-law:  Sarah and Troy in Alaska, and Holly and Jim in Arizona.  The greatest blessing is their six grandchildren.

"I am excited for what God is doing in building 'HIS' church.  My prayer is that Community Church of the Rockies will be a place where people can come and sense God's presence and become passionate about how great our God is and embrace all that God has for us.  I believe that one of God's visions for the church is to have a worldwide impact.  We want to be a light in the darkness and show God's love, not only in our local community, but to the needy places in this huge world we live in.  We are passionate and serious about following Christ and have a great love for God's people.  We are just "real people" connected to a "Real Big God!"
